Vopak Breasting Dolphin reinstatement
Breasting Dolphin BD1 of the Vopak Horizon Fujairah Ltd. Marine terminal was damaged by a collision with an oil tanker. This project included the salvage of the damaged breasting dolphin and the design and construction of a new breasting dolphin. The dolphin is comprised of a multi-pile structure with the concrete superstructure. For the salvage of the existing dolphin, a temporary suspension structure was designed and constructed to enable disconnecting the superstructure from the pile foundation, after which the superstructure was removed with a heavy lift operation. At the same location, a new dolphin structure was built for the 150,000 DWT design vessels. Gulf Foundation was contracted to perform the following activities:
- Salvage of existing damaged breasting dolphin in operational oil terminal.
