Stevin Rock quay wall

Construction of a quay wall with a length of 600 m. The quay wall is realised for Stevin Rock, one of the largest mining companies in the Middle East. The quay wall replaces an old structure which was corroding and collapsing. The new quay wall is used for loading of rock and aggregates into dry bulk vessels and offshore barges for export throughout the Middle East. The quay wall is built using heavy sheet pile and a tie back anchoring system with anchor wall. The capping beam consists of a reinforced cast in-situ beam with a steel shield protecting the structure from the seaside from the impact of barges. Gulf Foundation was contracted to perform the following activities:

  • Demolition of the existing berthing structure
  • Installation of sheet pile retaining wall with tie back anchors and embedded anchor wall
  • Installation of cast in-situ capping beam
  • Installation of fenders, bollards, and ladders
  • Installation of a cathodic protection system
